Feminist Rant.
To all the women out there please stop letting society degrade you. The legislature has granted us equal rights since the 1960s with the Civil Rights Act, yet we are still not equal.
In some career fields women are still paid less than men, some as much as 20%.
In pop culture we are even further belittled. Popular music, especially rap, illustrates women as sluts, with the sole purpose of satisfying men. In TV shows and movies it is a common joke to tell a woman to “get back in the kitchen,” or to “make me a sandwich.”
Stop laughing. It really isn’t funny. By laughing you are only telling society that it is okay to degrade women, and that we really are second-class citizens. Stop conforming, it won’t make you more popular and it won’t make that cute guy want to be with you. If anything it will tell him that he is better than you.
I realize that this is something most people don’t care about, and only see as a joke. However, if I was a minority and someone was making a racist joke I wouldn’t be laughing; I would do something. Women should be doing the same thing.
So stand up for yourself for once.
